The Job

The Mortgage Operations Manager is responsible for supervising, organizing, planning, and directing day to day operations of Residential Lending’s Processing, Closing, and Post-Closing team members. The Operations Manager will manage all aspects of the processing, closing, and post-closing functions related to Residential closed –end loans. The Manager will be responsible for daily pipeline management, disclosure review, weekly meetings, third party communication, file quality, HMDA, sale and transfer of mortgage loans, and adherence to compliance. A thorough knowledge of first mortgage real estate lending practices, including federal regulatory requirements, state regulations, and agency requirements is necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Effectively supervise the Residential Lending Processing, Closing, and Post-Closing team employees, including scheduling, performance reviews, training, coaching, and ensuring compliance with all regulations, BCCU policies and procedures.
  2. Comprehensive knowledge of first mortgage lending guidelines and practices including FNMA, FHA, NH Housing (other state housing agencies), TRID, special lending programs, and portfolio lending as well as a general awareness in the field of credit granting.
  3. Review loan files prior to initial disclosure to assure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with all applicable regulations.
  4. Manage workflow and volume, meeting allotted time-frames and re-evaluation of procedures to improve productivity, loan quality, and member service efficiencies.
  5. Develop and maintain strong lines of communication with ALL STAKEHOLDERS including BCCU Mortgage Loan Officers and Centralized lending assuring, complete and accurate files and a smooth process and closing.
  6. Assure closing process adheres to BCCU procedures and monitor timely closing, funding, set-up, booking, and shipping of completed first closed-end mortgages.
  7. Work with closing department to achieve efficiencies in process and coordination with interlinking departments.
  8. Manage post-close process to ensure all QC and post-close issues are quickly and satisfactorily resolved.
  9. Complete all required HMDA information in loan origination software. Work with Loan Servicing Team to ensure HMDA LAR is timely and accurate.
  10. Assist with commitment, delivery, and sale of loans to applicable investors.
  11. Must meet registration requirements under the SAFE ACT to obtain appropriate federal and state registration and licensing.
  12. Represent BCCU in a professional and responsible manner at all times.
  13. All other duties as required.
  14. Understand and comply with all BSA Regulations.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills essential for interacting with internal and external clients and projecting a positive image as representative of the Credit Union.
  • Finastra Mortgage BOT LOS and DocMagic experience preferred.
  • Three to five years processing or closing experience preferred. One to two years of supervisory experienced preferred but not required.
  • These characteristics are normally acquired through completion of a high school education plus additional post-secondary coursework.
  • Knowledge of underwriting guidelines (FNMA, FHLMC, FHA) and other investors used by BCCU. Knowledge of all state and federal regulations affecting mortgage lending including but not limited to Reg Z, ECOA, Reg B, and HMDA. General knowledge of NH Real Estate Law. Excellent interpersonal skills. Self-motivated and capable of working independently. Basic computer skills including, but not limited to, Windows, Word, Excel, and a thorough understanding of mortgage software utilized by BCCU.
  • Intermediate mathematical skill required (calculations and concepts involving decimals, percentages, fractions, etc.). The ability to perform income analysis to compute income to payment and debt to income ratio and Loan to Value.
  • Must have dependable transportation. Position requires sitting, standing, squatting, driving, and the ability to enter and maneuver facilities outside of the control of BCCU. May have to lift up to 30 pounds. Flexible hours are required, but a minimum of 40 hours/week are expected to be devoted to fulfilling and/or exceeding the goals of the position. Additional hours as necessary to accomplish objective, goals and projects.
  • Ability to Multi-Task, Adapt, and Problem Solve. MUST BE ORGANIZED AND DETAILED FOCUSED.
