It's never too early to look ahead! As a thank you to our staff, Bellwether Community Credit Union will be closing its branches and contact center at 3:00pm on Tuesday, May 2nd for an Employee Appreciation Event. Online banking and our mobile app will be available. We will resume normal business hours on Wednesday, May 3rd.
Due to this, an updated schedule will be as follows for May 2nd:
- Outgoing domestic and international wires - 12:00pm
- Pay by Phones - 1:00pm
- Share drafts - Exceptions will be processed on the 2nd by noon - exceptions afterwards will be processed on the 3rd
- External Transfers/Dealer Fundings - 12:00pm
- Mobile deposits - 1:00pm

Message from Bellwether
Bellwether is a not-for-profit community credit union serving families and small businesses right here in NH. Our deposits come from our members – your neighbors and the small businesses in our area. For more than 100 years, we’ve been putting those funds to work making auto loans, mortgages, and business loans to our members and giving back to our community.
The media has been reporting on several bank closures over the last few days. We wanted to take this opportunity to reinforce that Bellwether Community Credit Union is safe and here to meet your needs.
- Deposits at Bellwether are backed by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF). Deposits are insured up to at least $250,000 per individual depositor. The National Credit Union Administration is the independent agency that manages the NCUSIF. Like the FDIC’s Deposit Insurance Fund, the NCUSIF is a federal insurance fund backed by the full faith and credit of the United States government. Not one penny of insured savings has ever been lost by a member of a federally-insured credit union.
- Our deposit base is diversified and made up vastly of small depositors. We serve everyday New Hampshire people and businesses right here in our community.
- Bellwether’s business model is significantly different than the banks you’ve read about in the news. We have no direct exposure to the cryptocurrency industry or any concentrations of deposits or loans to Silicon Valley tech companies.
- Bellwether has ample liquidity and access to multiple liquidity sources if and should we need them.
- Bellwether has a strong capital position, significantly higher than regulatory limits to be considered “well capitalized.”

We are aware of phone and text scams affecting our members. As a reminder, please do not respond to any texts, links, or pop-ups pretending to be Bellwether. Do not give out online banking credentials or card information. Rest assured that we have not been part of a data breach and your information remains secure with us. If you have a suspicious call or text, please call us instead at 1-866-996-9828.

December 15, 2022
Be aware, there have been reports of fraudsters contacting credit union members with incoming phone numbers spoofed to appear as legitimate credit union numbers.
- The fraudster is telling the member that there is a problem with their debit card.
- They ask the member to verify a made-up transaction and then ask the member to provide the last four digits of their debit card number and “online passcode”.
- When the member responds that they do not have a passcode, they are instructed to create one and then provide the multifactor authentication (MFA) code to the fraudster.
- It appears at this point the fraudsters now have access to the member’s online banking and begin to transfer funds from savings to checking.
- The fraudster then conducts transactions on the member's card.
- The fraudster then instructs the member that they will receive two texts regarding unauthorized transactions and how to respond to those texts. The first text is suspected to be from the fraudster, while the second was from the credit union's fraud department.
- Reports say members can be on the phone with the fraudsters for 30 to 60 minutes.
Remember: Bellwether Community Credit Union never asks for your personal or account-related information such as account numbers, social security numbers, passwords or PINs over the telephone, in emails, or in text messages. If you receive a call, email or text message asking for this information, please let us know by calling 1-866-996-9828 or sending us an email at spam@bccu.org. Do not reply directly to the request.

Due to delays with the card printing facility, we are experiencing an additional two week delay in the delivery of new debit and credit cards. We apologize for the delay.

As a thank you to our staff, Bellwether Community Credit Union will be closing its branches and contact center early on Tuesday, June 7 at 3 p.m. for an Employee Appreciation Event. Online banking and our mobile app will be available. We will resume normal business hours on Wednesday, June 8. Rain date is scheduled for Tuesday, June 14.
