Mobile App Update: What to Expect on October 22
We’re upgrading Bellwether’s online and mobile banking to improve efficiency and member experience on Thursday, October 22, starting at 7:00 a.m. ET. Online and mobile banking will stay available throughout, so there’s no downtime.
You’ll be prompted to update your app, and it’s legit
The first time you open the Bellwether mobile app after the upgrade, you’ll be asked to update to the newest version (26.1.0). This is expected and safe, so tap to continue.
Only download app updates from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Never use a link sent to you by text or email.
Check your phone’s operating system
The new app requires iOS 17 or later on iPhone or Android 13 or later on Android.
- iPhone: Settings > General > About > iOS Version
- Android: Settings > About Phone > Android Version (the path may vary by device)
If your phone has a system update available, install it first, then update the Bellwether app.
Can’t update your phone? You still have full access.
If your phone can’t run iOS 17 or Android 13, you can still bank anytime by signing in to online banking at bccu.org from your phone’s browser or a computer. Your login stays the same.

Shared Branching is getting more secured with IDCheck, a seamless and secure way to verify your identity in-branch, helping to ensure your account remains protected from unauthorized access. If you bank at one of our branches or a Shared Branch location, a teller can now identify and authenticate members with out-of-state IDs in the branch through a QR code and one-time passcode multi-factor authentication verification. This service will be used in all shared branching locations by 5/1/2025.
How it Works:
- Scan the QR code located in the branch or visit verify.coop.org.
- Select your credit union’s name from a drop-down list.
- Enter your member number and the last four digits of your social security number.
- Upload a photo of your ID.
- Take a selfie.
Tip: Save your validation for an even quicker experience next time!
- Show your one-time passcode to the teller (passcode is valid for 20 minutes).
