Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP)*

Protection for the Unexpected
Most people know that new cars depreciate by thousands of dollars as soon as they are driven off the sales lot. If you have a loan, and something happens to the vehicle (for example, its stolen or damaged beyond repair), your insurance settlement may not be enough to pay off your loan. Thankfully, there’s GAP insurance. It covers the difference between the value of your vehicle as set by the insurance company, and the balance you owe on your loan.

For just a few dollars a month added to your regular payment (or the full price paid up front), you can save yourself from making loan payments on a car, truck or other vehicle that's been totaled or stolen and not recovered.

  • Motor Vehicles
  • Powersports
  • RVs
  • Watercraft

Maximum claim – Up to $50,000**

Give it a try! 90-day Free Look Period – full refund in the first 90 days if you decide this coverage is not for you.

For just a few pennies more, GAP Plus coverage also includes up to $1,000 toward the down payment for a replacement vehicle. The replacement vehicle must be purchased within 60 days of primary insurer’s settlement.

**certain restrictions apply

Mechanical Repair Coverage (MRC)*

No one likes an unexpected expense. Unexpected auto repairs are even worse since it usually means you’ll be without your vehicle while repairs are completed. Wouldn’t it be great to have insurance that helps out at times like these? Mechanical Repair Coverage (MRC) offers this peace of mind for just a few dollars a month. You can protect your vehicle—and your budget—from unexpected repair expenses that could total hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

How does it work?
MRC starts protecting you immediately from the cost and inconvenience of covered breakdowns. Coverage offers 24-hour road side assistance, towing, emergency travel expenses, rental reimbursement, and payment for covered repairs of the vehicle. Your car may come with a factory warranty but just when your car starts to need bigger repairs that warranty has expired. Plus, the factory warranty doesn’t necessarily cover things like flat tires or running out of gas. But those are times when you NEED coverage, and when you’ll be glad you purchased MRC.

Look at the following examples of covered repairs and average costs:

  • Engine replacement - $5,000
  • Transmission - $3,000
  • A/C Compressor - $700
  • Fuel Pump - $700
  • Alternator $550
  • Battery/jump start
  • Flat tire assistance
  • Lock out service

Any one of these problems can happen suddenly, and you may be stuck without your vehicle and with a significant cost to you. With MRC you’ll be prepared and the breakdown will be a small inconvenience, rather than a true hardship. Repairs can be completed by any authorized repair facility in the US or Canada.

Give it a try! 90-day Free Look Period – full refund in the first 90 days if you decide this coverage is not for you.

Add GAP or MRC to any current or new BCCU loan or application. For more information on both types of protection, contact a Bellwether member service professional today. Call 1-866-996-9828.
