Each quarter, we’re recognizing the people who make our neighborhoods stronger. Recipients will:

  • Be featured in Bellwether’s community storytelling
  • Receive a personalized recognition gift
  • Get celebrated for the difference they make

Congratulations to Our First Heart of the Community Recipient

Heart of Community - Derek

Derek Foxwell

Bellwether is proud to announce Derek Foxwell as the first-ever recipient of our Heart of the Community Award.
 
Derek works in the Housing and Homeless Services Department at The Center for Life Management. In his role as the Homeless PATH Outreach Specialist, Derek works directly with Rockingham County's unhoused population. From visiting homeless encampments, delivering supplies, setting up tents, transporting individuals to various appointments, Derek goes above and beyond.
 
"Derek is truly the heart of the community," said Adam Scalingi, who works alongside Derek and nominated him for the award. "I've seen firsthand how he gives everything he has to help others. He is someone I look up to greatly and learn from on a daily basis."

with heart. This could include volunteers, mentors, caregivers, and more.
