Debit Card with emv
What is EMV?
Bellwether accounts are monitored for fraud 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The EMV represents microchip technology in your card that increases security. The chip enhances the process by providing dynamic data at the time of use that is protected. Additionally, a microchip is much more difficult to replicate or counterfeit than the old cards with just a magnetic strip.
How do I use my new EMV Chip Card?
While EMV cards are widely accepted throughout Europe, many merchants across the United States are still working to update their payment terminals to process EMV microchip transactions. That's why Bellwether cards have both a strip and a chip.
Two Simple Steps
- First, swipe your card. If the merchant isn't EMV-ready, the transaction will process using the magnetic strip on the card. If the merchant is EMV-ready, you will be prompted to re-insert your card in the terminal while the microchip is authenticated and the transaction is complete.
- Second, remove your card! Some terminals may remind you to take your card, but some may not.
