Are you a kid aged 0 - 11 years old? Our "Save It Today!" Kid's Club is just for you! This is where you can find all kinds of fun pages, puzzles, Web sites, and information! What are you waiting for? Join Dollar Bill, Linc 'n Penny, and Buck and start learning!
There's Still Room in the Club!
Why not stop by a branch today and join the "Save It Today!" Kids Club? While designed for kids 0 - 11, the club is open to all children through the age of 17. Children through the age of 15 will be required to have a parent or other responsible adult on the account with them. A birth certificate and social security number are required to open the account. Children aged 16 and 17 can also join the club and will be allowed to hold the account without an adult. "Save It Today!" Kids Club accounts automatically transfer to a standard savings account (with all funds earning regular savnigs account dividends) the month following their 18th birthday. Saving is good, but giving is good too! Over the past year, Dollar Bill and his friends have shared ideas on how to make and save money, plan for shopping trips, set goals for saving, and track your progress. But when birthdays and holidays come around, people start to think about gifts. Giving is also part of understanding how to handle your money. And giving to people you don't even know; helping to raise money for a cause that will help the community; or helping people in other places is a very important way to make things better in the world. If you think you don't have enough money to give, remember, money isn't the only thing people need! Your time, and even some of your toys and clothes also have value and can help a lot. You can volunteer at a food bank or shelter; donate clothing or food to a local charity, help raise money for something at school, or with your ball team, church or through a club you belong to. You can even visit a local nursing home or hospital and volunteer to read books to someone, or play cards or games with people. The ways to help are endless. The best part is your community, the people who live down the street, across town or even across the country and many places in the world, will benefit from your giving. Even if the time or money you're able to donate is small, when you give, and other people give too, it will all add up to a much bigger amount. That's what community is all about; people working together, sharing, helping and being involved. If you haven't thought about giving before, why not start. Just make a choice to set aside a small amount of any money you receive. Then research charitable organizations and pick one that interests you. Still not sure you have enough money to give? If you have a lot of books, toys or games, think about donating some to a church, hospital, library, or other local organization! Local animal shelters also look for cash donations and many times have specific items or jobs they need help with. The organization will be very happy, and you'll feel good helping! Just get in the habit of thinking about others in need and you'll be well on your way to understanding the "giving" part of finance.
Happy Saving and Giving! And if you've saved money to give to a local community project, or donated time or other items! Just email me at dollarbill@bccu.org, or send me a letter at:
