What is CheckDeposit24

CheckDeposit24 is a service by which you can deposit a check from anywhere, with just an internet connection, and scanner.

Checks deposited using CheckDeposit24 are forwarded securely to your Bellwether deposit or loan account. To use the service, you will need to go through the registration process which is then reviewed by Bellwether. Once approved, all you need is a scanner, a computer and an internet connection and you’re ready to begin! (Usage requires BCCU Web24 Internet Banking and one-time registration of your scanner).

How do I sign up for CheckDeposit24?

You can request authorization for CheckDeposit24 by logging in to your WEB24 account and clicking on CheckDeposit24 on the top navigation bar. Once you receive notice that your request for authorization has been approved, you’ll be ready to begin using the service.

What are the hardware and software specifications for CheckDeposit24?

In order to use CheckDeposit24, you must have the following:

  1. For Microsoft® Windows®:
    • Windows 7 Service Pack 1: Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 11 or Mozilla® Firefox®
    • Windows 8.1: Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 or Mozilla Firefox
    • Local administrative rights

      NOTE: The current version of Chrome, and its two previous versions are supported.

  1. For Macintosh®
    • OS X® Version 10.6x (Snow Lepard) with Safari® Version 5
    • Local administrative rights

  1. High-speed internet connection

  2. TWAIN-compliant document scanner (To find out if your scanner is compliant, please refer to the documentation that was supplied with the scanner. For help with your scanner, log in to your WEB24 online banking account and click on CheckDeposit24 on the top navigation bar. Then click on “Help with Scanners and Drivers” near the bottom of the screen.)

What fees are associated with this service?

There are no additional fees to use CheckDeposit24. Please see Bellwether Community Credit Union's Fee Schedule for costs associated with loans and deposit accounts.

How quickly will the deposit be credited to my account?

Checks submitted for deposit prior to 4:00 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST) will usually be credited to your account on the same business day. Deposits submitted after 4:00 pm EST will usually be credited to your account on the next business day. Business days are Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Note that all deposits made through CheckDeposit24 are subject to review. You will receive a confirmation email when the deposit has been made. Funds may not be available immediately, so it is advised to wait for email confirmation before trying to access deposited funds.

Will there be any special holds places on this type of deposit?

Are there any types of checks that cannot be submitted using CheckDeposit24?

The following items cannot be submitted for deposit or payment using CheckDeposit24:

  1. Savings Bonds
  2. Foreign Checks
  3. Checks previously endorsed by Bellwether
  4. Third Party Checks
  5. Any item that is "stale dated" or "post dated"
  6. Any item that is incomplete (i.e. missing the date, missing the payee, etc.)
  7. Any item that contains evidence of alteration to the information on the check
  8. Any item that is stamped with a "non-negotiable" watermark

How should I endorse the check?

The back of each check must include:

  1. Your signature
  2. The account number to which the check is being deposited or paid
  3. Date
  4. The words "via CheckDeposit24"
  5. The word "scanned" and the date in the memo section on the front of the check

PLEASE NOTE: If the back of the check is not properly endorsed, we reserve the right to reject the check for deposit or payment.

What else will I need to do to send in my deposit?

After you endorse the back of the check(s) according to the indications above, you will need to do the following:

  1. Log in to your WEB24 Online Banking account
  2. Click on CheckDeposit24 on the top navigation bar
  3. Select your scanner (this step only occurs the first time you use a scanner)
  4. Enter the total deposit or payment amount of your check(s)
  5. Scan the front and back of your check(s)
  6. Review and submit your deposit

The image of the check transmitted must be legible and requires all key information as outlined in the CheckDeposit24 End User Agreement.

How long should I hold on to my check(s) after I scan it using CheckDeposit24?

Once you have scanned your check(s) and your deposit or payment has been credited to your account, you should securely store the original check a minimum of 90 days. After that time period it is recommended that checks be shredded/destroyed.
