BELLWETHER COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION STAFF CONTINUE TRADITION OF
SUPPORTING NEW HORIZONS WITH VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION
Bellwether also donated $2,500 to the organization

MANCHESTER, NH – Bellwether Community Credit Union (BCCU), continued their tradition of supporting New Horizons by preparing, cooking and serving a special Veterans Day dinner for the homeless on November 11th. Over 30 employees from the organization volunteered throughout the day and served 180 meals to individuals and families. John Gunther, Bellwether’s Vice President of Risk Management and The Freese Brothers Big Band provided the musical entertainment.

New Horizons has always been supportive of veterans and has historically helped approximately 90 service members per year. Last year, New Horizons received grants through the U.S. Department of Labor’s Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP) and Veterans Affairs Supportive Services for Veterans Families (SSVF). This grant money enabled expanded service for veterans and New Horizons screened 180 veterans and was able to provide appropriate supportive services to them. HVRP is the only federal program dedicated to providing employment assistance to homeless veterans while SSVF provides eligible veteran families with outreach, case management and assistance in obtaining VA benefits.

In addition to volunteering, Nancy Nadeau, Vice President of Adminstration at Bellwether Community Credit Union, presented a $2,500 check to New Horizons Executive Director Charlie Sherman. The donation will make Thanksgiving dinner possible for 90 families in Greater Manchester. New Horizons will use the funds to create and distribute holiday food baskets filled with a turkey and non-perishable items to local families in need.

New Horizons Executive Director, Charlie Sherman, stated “I am honored to partner with Bellwether Community Credit Union on Veterans Day again this year. They are so wonderful to step up and help those less fortunate in our community.”

“New Horizons has a longstanding presence in our community and we are proud to have been a partner of theirs for so many years,” stated Bellwether Community Credit Union President/CEO, Michael L’Ecuyer. “Several members of our staff volunteer regularly at New Horizons but this event is always particularly special since it brings our entire team together.”
